Choose the scheme that suits your needs

If you have short-term, seasonal labour needs, you can apply to recruit unskilled workers from Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste via the Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP). To find out more, visit the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business’ SWP website.

If you need low-skilled or semi-skilled workers for one to three years, and your business meets our eligibility criteria, you can apply to become an Approved Employer with the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS).

Checklist: Find out if you can join the Pacific Labour Scheme

• Is your business based in Australia? Does it operate in Australia?
• Is your business located in rural or regional Australia? See the list of eligible postcodes below.
• Is your business in need of non-seasonal labour that can’t be met by Australian workers?
• Does your business have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN)?
• Is your business able to demonstrate at least three years of financial solvency?
• Does your business have a history of compliance with immigration and fair work requirements?
• Does your business have established employment and workplace policies and procedures?

Are you based in rural or regional Australia?

To be eligible, you must be based in rural or regional Australia. The following postcodes are currently considered to be part of rural and regional Australia for the PLS.
